PUBLIC co-founder and CEO Daniel Korski, in conversation with Jonathan Kewley, Senior Partner and Tech Group Co-Head, Clifford Chance.
The current debate about technology and national security in liberal democracies focuses on the vulnerabilities created by technology. Given how strategic competitors and adversaries exploit Western societies’ technology-based vulnerabilities, for example through hacks, viruses and dissemination of “fake news” on social media, that is not surprising.
Technology should, however, also be examined from the opposite perspective: as a source of societal strength. In this breakfast briefing Daniel Korski, co-founder and CEO of PUBLIC and a deputy head of policy for David Cameron, and Jonathan Kewley, the co-head of Clifford Chance’s Tech Group, will explore the potential of technology as a source of societal strength.
Daniel Korski CBE is the Chief Executive Officer at PUBLIC and has 20 years’ of experience in senior positions in government across the UK, EU, and US. Daniel was most recently Deputy Head of Policy at No. 10 Downing Street and Special Advisor to David Cameron. Before that, Daniel was adviser to the Vice-President of the European Commision and has worked for the UN and Foreign Office in Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen. He co-founded PUBLIC to enable tech startups to transform the way public services are run and delivered.
Jonathan Kewley is a Partner and the Co-Head of the Clifford Chance Tech Group, a cross-disciplinary team of 400+ lawyers globally advising on tech risk and opportunity.
