John Healey MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Defence, and Nils Schmid MdB, SPD parliamentary group spokesperson for foreign affairs, set out a joint vision for enhancing the British-German defence relationship.

The war in Ukraine has transformed the European security landscape and forced countries from across the continent to reassess, in some cases, assumptions held for decades about their defence and role within the Western Alliance. These discussions take place against a backdrop of unprecedented threats to the broader rules-based international order, something the UK and Germany helped build and have benefited greatly from.

John Healey MP and Nils Schmid MdB share the platform to discuss where next UK–German defence and security cooperation. They will be joined by Michèle Auga, Director of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung London, and Ed Arnold, European Security Research Fellow, RUSI.
