The Integrated Approach to Stabilisation: Issues and Challenges

RUSI Logo 3Lindy Cameron OBE, Head of the UK Government's Stabilisation Unit (SU), will discuss the SU's recent experiences of facilitating integration in a constrained environment within fragile and conflict affected states. In her lecture, Lindy will look at the key issues and challenges the Unit has faced and lessons learned, with a particular focus on Afghanistan, Libya and South Sudan.

Lindy Cameron OBE started her career as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company. She has worked for the UK Department for International Development (DFID) since 1998, first as a governance specialist in Nigeria, Vietnam and the Balkans, and then as a manager, heading DFID's country offices in Iraq (2004-2005) and Afghanistan (2006-2007). She was seconded to the UK Cabinet Office (covering Africa, Trade, Development and International Institutions) and Foreign Office (as Head of the Helmand Provincial Reconstruction Team and NATO Senior Civilian for Regional Command South West), before returning to DFID in early September 2011 as Head of the Middle East and North Africa Department. Lindy was appointed Head of the Stabilisation Unit and assumed her current role in October 2012.
