The Great War Debate – Was Britain Right To Fight in 1914?

RUSI, in association with Military History Monthly magazine (celebrating its 50th issue) and Historical Trips will host a debate on whether Britain should have gone to war in August 1914. Historian Nigel Jones and politician and author Patrick Mercer will propose the motion that Britain was right to fight the First World War, with Military History Monthly editor Neil Faulkner and writer Jan Woolf opposing.

The debate will be moderated by Michael Codner, Senior Research Fellow in Military Sciences at RUSI, and will be held in the Duke of Wellington Hall from 1900, followed by a drinks reception in the RUSI Library of Military History.
