RUSI-BABi: The Defence Trade Cooperation Treaty – A New Era?

Wednesday 26 September 2007
RUSI, Whitehall, London
The UK-US ‘special relationship’ has been a defining feature of international politics for over fifty years, but close cooperation on the battlefield has not been duplicated to the same extent in industry. Despite desires from both British and American industrialists for more cooperation, export control issues have often complicated the situation. Now with a new UK-US Defence Trade Treaty on the horizon, the future of defence industrial cooperation looks bright.
The fifth RUSI-BABi annual conference explores the implications of the Defence Trade Treaty on UK-US defence industrial relations bringing together industrialists, analysts and policy-makers together in an open and non-partisan environment.
Additional speakers include:
- Professor Christopher Coker, Department of International Relations, London School of Economics
- Air Commodore Paul Colley, Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre, UK MoD
- Rt Hon James Arbuthnot MP, Defence Committee, UK Parliament
- Andrew Sleigh, Group Chief Technology Office, QinetiQ
- Ulf Hammerstrom, Industry and Market Directorate, EDA
- Brian McKeon, Managing Director and President Raytheon Systems Ltd
- Al Volkman, Director of International Cooperation, DoD
