Afghanistan 2011: A Survey of the Afghan People

calendarclock - (GMT)

This event, hosted by RUSI, and co-organised with the Asia Foundation, will discuss Afghan perceptions of the ISAF campaign and progress on governance and security in Afghanistan.

The event will mark a London launch for the Asia Foundation's Afghanistan Survey, which is the broadest and most comprehensive survey of Afghan public opinion across all thirty-four of its provinces. The findings from the latest annual survey cover a broad range of issues affecting life in the country including political, economic, and security concerns. The Asia Foundation's Afghan research team will present their findings to an expert audience, and a RUSI research team will then lead a discussion on recent trends in Afghan public opinion and their implications for the ISAF campaign. The primary aim of the discussion is to strengthen our understanding of Afghan perceptions and attitudes towards the international presence and their government, and to generate recommendations for managing the transition and withdrawal process between now and the end of 2014.

The event will take place at RUSI from 1330-1500, with a light lunch from 1300.
