Acting, Doodling and Fighting: On the Front Line and the Road to Recovery for Armed Forces

Following the success of the first event in RUSI’s Conflict, War and Culture Series, ‘Hollywood: Fantasy Wars and Real Wars, the second event saw actor and BAFTA winning documentary maker Ross Kemp and Bryn Parry, Co-Founder of Help for Heroes, in conversation with RUSI Director-General Michael Clarke about their relationship with the military and how the front line affects everyone who goes to it.

Ross KempRoss Kemp has walked along the road to recovery with a number of British service personnel. In this unique event he will share some new dimensions of his experiences on the front line in Afghanistan during Operation Herricks 6, 7 and 9 in the making of his landmark TV series; the effect of seeing men wounded and coming home with them; the way it affected his commitment to help them walk that road to recovery, and his role, as an actor, with a charity such as Help for Heroes.

          

             

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bryn Parry

Bryn Parry, the Co-Founder of Help for Heroes, served with the Royal Green Jackets and became a professional cartoonist. He has used his cartoons both to describe the charity’s work and to engage other members of the arts world in it.
