To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Stanley Kubrick’s satirical take on the Cold War’s nuclear logic, the UK Project on Nuclear Issues (UK PONI) held a free screening of Dr Strangelove at the Royal United Services Institute.

UK PONI was joined by Paul Schulte of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, who guided the audience through the tragicomic maze of dilemmas, contradictions, and paradoxes that lie at the heart of nuclear deterrence. Paul’s discussions of Dr Strangelove have become legendary within the UK nuclear community and should not be missed.

To ease the journey towards the brink of nuclear war (and beyond?) UK PONI transformed the RUSI Library of Military History into a cinema: complete with a complimentary bar and refreshments.
