Security and Counter-Terrorism

The Security and Counter-Terrorism area of research examines the nature of the domestic terrorist threat to Britain.

Cultures, communities and individuals are as central as governments and terrorist groups to understanding why terror attacks take place.

We explore all aspects of this context, emphasising prevention and de-radicalisation in its research agenda.

RUSI Security and Counter-Terrorism experts have worked closely with government in the development of the CONTEST counter-terrorism strategy, and the Channel Project on countering violent extremism in communities across the UK.
