Japan

Japan's foreign and security policies have begun to change in tandem with its rapidly developing region.

RUSI has responded to Japan's desire for the diversification of its security with a series of exchange visits and conferences, matching growing British-Japanese defence ties.

RUSI has collaborated with the National Institute for Defence Studies since 2006, organising a fellowship exchange programme in order to aid understanding between the policy communities of both countries.

In addition, RUSI has participated in the Asian Forum Japan since 2008, helping to shape the nascent debate on security in Japan.
