This Programme has now been incorporated into the Operational Studies Programme and Defence Leadership and Management Programme. It focused its research on the UK’s armed forces, their place in British society and contribution to national security, British military operations abroad and at home, recruiting, training, education and retention of personnel. Important themes included the doctrines and capability needs of British forces and British military law.

Programme Outline

The UK Armed Forces Programme looked at military strategy, doctrine, moral and legal issues, as well as looking at the relationship between civil and military actors in the operational environment.
