Euro-Mediterranean Security: Moroccan and British Perspectives

In March 2010, RUSI and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco convened a high-level conference in Rabat to establish new thinking regarding Euro-Mediterranean security co-operation.

Edited by Alastair Cameron, Head of the European Security Programme, RUSI

This occasional paper suggests an array of strategies and approaches for promoting greater security and stability in the region. It further explores the potential for new collaborative mechanisms between nations on both sides of the Mediterranean. The report examines regional security arrangements, the role of energy and natural resources, and prospects for strengthened security co-operation in the Mediterranean, as well as Europe's role.

The conference participants included senior officials and subject matter experts from government and academic within Europe and the Maghreb. The report highlights these contributions, and includes the keynote address from Moroccan foreign minister, Mr Fassi Fihri.
