A Real Change in Russia's Position on Missile Defence?

A recent interview given by the Russian chief of the General Staff General Nikolay Makarov to a Russian television programme seemed to suggest that Moscow is changing its policy position on US plans for a European BMD system. Does this represent a true warming of West-Russian relations or is this little more than Moscow's attempts to influence NATO's plans?
