The RUSI Journal

Published six times a year, the Journal is the Institute’s flagship publication and a leading international forum for the exchange of ideas on defence and security. Since it was first published in 1857 the Journal has been essential reading for anyone tracking global developments in the field.

Today, the RUSI Journal brings fresh and challenging perspectives to bear on a comprehensive range of topics, from strategic theory to counter-insurgency; from military history to current government policy; and from international terrorism to domestic counter-radicalisation.

The RUSI Journal is edited by Dr Emma De Angelis.

Afghan Papers

Whitehall Papers

RUSI’s monograph series provides in-depth studies of specific developments, issues or themes in the field of national and international defence and security. Whitehall Papers reflect the highest standards of original research and analysis, and are invaluable background material for policy makers and specialists alike.

Recent publications in this series have included studies of British strategy-making in Afghanistan, nuclear non-proliferation, Arctic security, the unity of 'the West', European energy security and the UK's institutional peace-building structures.

Newsbrief offers concise briefings and analysis of contemporary issues and trends in international security. Published every two months, its balance of rigour and immediacy provides an intelligent response to unfolding world events.

RUSI Defence Systems is produced three times a year and examines strategic, conceptual and acquisition issues faced by the global defence community. It is read in over a hundred countries and regularly features contributions from prominent and distinguished defence chiefs, scientists and industrialists from across the globe.

RUSI Defence Systems is published in association with Newsdesk Media.

Monitor

RUSI Monitor

Monitor was published from July 2002 to February 2010, and examined national security and resilience issues. From terrorist attacks to mass flooding, it addressed the strategic, operational and tactical levels of response, and the interests of public and private bodies.
