Guns, not Roses: A New Era for the African Union Forces?

These are the best of times and the worst of times for the African Union and the African Union forces. This is a new era of opportunity and high expectation for the AU in the realms of development, governance and conflict resolution in Africa. The AU is aware that it will be in its dealings in Africa’s conflicts. The AU has therefore taken a new, more interventionist approach. The African Union forces are thus, to some extent, the engines of the AU’s credibility and outreach.
