No Fly Zones – Easy to Say, Difficult to Implement

No Fly Zones seem to offer a power and low-risk means of halting violence in Darfur. Under pressure to ‘do something’, politicians and commentators have been drawn to the possibility of a NFZ. Political leaders must not underestimate the scale of the challenge and secure an appropriately robust mandate; otherwise, intervention will be unable to meet unrealistic expectations.
