In the wake of China’s successful anti-satellite test in January, observers are scrambling to interpret the Chinese leadership’s intentions. In fact, this confusion may be deliberately cultivated. China may be pursuing a strategy of ‘pressure-point warfare’, and the test that took place in January 2007 would be a watershed in reaching parity with US military dominance in the region.
