Neil Robinson attempts to show that in architecture terms the Internet, though extremely robust because of the sound engineering principles on which it is modelled, has the potential to be severely disrupted. Despite its widespread use, the Internet remains a poorly understood system whose operations can be seriously affected by badly conceived policies and inadequately managed relationships and dependencies.
