The likelihood of a terrorist attack on commercial buildings using chemical or biological weapons is still relatively low. However, the rapidly evolving nature of the threat means that buildings now being designed or in construction should include protective measures to 'future proof' the building. By assessing the vulnerability to a range of agents and methods of attack, argues John Haddon, a risk led approach will result in practicable mitigation measures that can significantly reduce the risk to commercial buildings and their occupants.
