Protecting the UK against Terrorism

Over several decades the UK has developed a considerable expertise in fighting 'conventional' bullet-and-bomb terrorism. Following the events of 11 September, the threat of mass destruction from terrorism - by any means - must now be regarded as credible. Bob Whalley outlines the measures taken by the British Government since the terrorist outrages on the US and points out the additional institutional work which must be accomplished.
