The picturesque village of Boscastle in North Cornwall hit national and international headlines in August 2004 when the region suffered severe flooding, requiring villagers to be rescued by helicopter. This summer, as the UK was subjected to more flooding, Boscastle again found itself underwater. Monitor spoke to local councillor Janey Comber about the lessons learned in 2004, how well the flood defences put in place since then held up this summer and what plans there are for the future.
