USTRANSCOM’s multi-faceted, global distribution system ensures the nation’s armed forces are supplied and combat-ready 24/7. The success of that system – the lifeline to thousands of deployed military men and women – depends on MSC’s ships. During Fiscal Year 2007, MSC delivered almost 7 million square feet of dry cargo and 2.4Bn gallons of fuel and other petroleum products for US and coalition forces around the world. That means that since the global war on terrorism began in 2001, MSC has delivered enough vehicles, supplies, spare parts and ammunition to fill a supply train that would stretch 2433 miles – from Lisbon in Portugal to Moscow in Russia, and enough fuel to fill a manmade lake a mile across and almost 70 feet deep.
