Chinese Involvement in Africa: A Threat to the Good Governance Agenda?

The recent Japanese pledge to double African aid is another indication of the accelerating ‘scramble for Africa’. Coupled with aid schemes by India and the G8, such moves may represent a nascent global alliance to counter increasing Chinese influence on the African continent. The previously inconspicuous African nations are now sparking global competition as countries see, as a result of Sino-African courtship, China resolutely planting its flag.
