Colombian Counter-Insurgency Gathers Momentum

Viewed from afar, Colombia's forty year old campaign against the self-styled Marxist guerrilla group Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) can appear to be a relentless stream of bad news. Nevertheless, the dominant trend of 2007 has in fact been one of accelerating operational momentum in the counter-insurgency campaign.
