China has embarked on a worldwide campaign of frenetic yet adroit diplomacy under the banner of ‘peaceful development’ and the world has been hypnotized by China’s enormous trading might. Commensurate with the impressive growth of China’s economy is the growth of the PLA from a relatively low tech army to the rapidly modernizing force that it is today. In this respect, what the PLA is prepared to reveal in public is very much pointed towards a domestic audience in addition to international eyes and ears.
