The Trident debate was notable for two reasons. Firstly, the open manner in which it was conducted. Secondly, the level-headed debate engaged in by those opposed to Trident. Focusing on scientific objections, rather than traditional lines of argument based on moral, religious and legal reasons was an important step for advocacy groups. However, some misconceptions persisted. This article considers what was missed out in the public debate.
