FDR: Options for Britain's Defence and Security

Future Defence Review Banner

In advance of a future review of defence, RUSI identifies the important areas of defence policy that must be addressed in light of the changing character of twenty-first century warfare, military utility, and reduced government spending in the future.

Historically government defence reviews are undertaken to decide defence policy and the resources and means necessary to achieve these objectives. Such reviews are both contentious and sensitive, for defence policy is intimately related to the protection and projection of national interest abroad as well as defending national security at home.  More >

RUSI's latest Future Defence Review Paper argues that the UK’s Armed Forces face personnel cuts of 20% over the next six years.
