PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED.
A NEW DATE WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN DUE COURSE.
As NATO heads towards its sixtieth anniversary, the Alliance remains involved in Afghanistan, one of the most challenging stabilisation missions in its history. Furthermore, it also continues to transform itself, in order to meet the complex security environment of the 21st century, and embrace a continent which is no longer divided by ideology or spheres of influence. All of these are daunting challenges but, if NATO has proved anything over the course of its existence, it is that the organisation remains resilient and adaptable. From 2-4 April, NATO's heads of states and governments will meet in Bucharest, Romania, to discuss these matters, and issue the political directives for the future of the Alliance.
On the eve of the summit, RUSI is pleased to welcome General John Craddock, Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) to speak on current and future issues facing the Alliance. General Craddock will provide an update on the current mission in Afghanistan, the challenges it still faces and the progress being made. He will also examine how the changing security environment affects NATO and what the Alliance must do to effectively meet the operational challenges of the 21st century.
This event is open to members of the Institute only and places will be allocated on a strictly first-come, first-served basis
