About the event:

A lecture by Ambassador Sir Simon Gass KCMG CVO, NATO Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan. In his lecture, Ambassador Gass assessed the prospects for transition and for the international community's efforts in Afghanistan, both before 2014 and thereafter.

Ambassador Sir Simon Gass KCMG CVO has been the NATO Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan since 2011. Before his present appointment he was the British Ambassador to Iran. He has held a succession of senior diplomatic posts both in London and overseas including British Ambassador to Greece, Deputy High Commissioner to South Africa and Finance Director and Board Member of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. He has also been posted in Rome, Lagos and New York.
