09:00, 24 Jan 2008
RUSI, Whitehall, London, SW1A 2ET

About the event:

RUSImotifThe popular understanding that ISAF and Afghan forces are fighting the 'Taliban' is matched by a general lack of knowledge about the enemy.  This can cultivate myths and misperceptions about the 'Taliban' in public, media and political circles that have detrimental effect on the international efforts to support the Afghan government.  This closed workshop aims to bring together a range of relevant expertise to explore topics such as the present composition, aims and motivations of those labelled the 'Taliban', and to investigate issues of benefit to those pursuing peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Although this is a closed workshop, those wishing to be considered for participation should please email Paul Smyth, Head, Operational Studies Programme or telephone  + 44 (0) 207 747 4951.
