About the event:

Changes in the defence environment have created new challenges for those involved in project management within the sector.

Defence Project Management

During this conference, speakers will discuss the nature of these challenges and consider how organisations are adapting to overcome them. We will then take a look at some of the issues associated with meeting operational needs before embarking upon track sessions which will examine in some detail areas which we consider to be critical to improving project performance - 'Risk and Innovation', and 'People, Knowledge and Behaviours'.

The track sessions will be facilitated and each will comprise inputs from 3 speakers followed by the opportunity for questions and discussion. The breadth and depth of knowledge of both speakers and delegates should prompt some useful debate and expose a variety of views. The outputs from each session will be used as the basis for further research which will culminate in a series of papers which will be made available to delegates.

The penultimate session of the conference will look ahead, starting with a long-range analysis of the future environment, before moving on to consider the likely shape of the future defence industry and then identifying what all this will mean for defence projects and programmes and those who manage them.  In the final session, senior MoD speakers will discuss what steps are being taken to ensure that the MoD is able to meet the project management challenges of today and those of the future.
