About the event:

Police.BMP

The robust and effective application of command and control within an operational emergency response environment is pivotal to the success of the emergency services. A recurring theme from previous enquires into disasters in the UK and abroad has been the difficulties of establishing effective communication links between the emergency responders. It is essential that more work be carried out to provide communications and information management technology that is interoperable and reliable so that our emergency responders can effectively carry out their duties. The aim of this HSR workshop is to examine the issue of command and control within the context of large scale emergencies, examining the lessons learned and sharing elements of good practice from previous large-scale incidents.

The workshop will also explore, and provide a platform for debate to examine the ways in which interoperable command and control processes and technologies can be progressed in the future.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Peter Neyroud - Chief Constable and Chief Executive Designate of the National Policing Improvement Agency
  • Sir Ken Knight - Commissioner of the London Fire Brigade
  • Dr. David Boyd – Head of Command, Control and Interoperability, Department of Homeland Security, USA
  • Tim O’Toole - Managing Director of London Underground
  • John Pullin - Emergency Planning Lead NHS London
  • Roy Wilsher - Chief Fire Officer of Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue
