Despite the efforts which governments place on it, conflict prevention remains the most unglamorous, least documented and easily forgotten of diplomatic and military endeavours. A conflict which was successfully prevented usually merits little further attention and the lessons learned are often just as quickly forgotten.

Command and Control 2008 – Enabling an Effective Emergency Response

A successful response to an emergency situation is dependent upon the way in which command orders are delivered and acted upon. A range of ‘enablers’ can be used to facilitate this procedure, such as communications equipment, information technology, and training. However, the ‘interoperability’ of these enablers is an issue that has still not been addressed adequately, and this hinders emergency responders in the UK and across the globe.
