Kevin Byrne
Position: Research Associate
Kevin Byrne is a Research Associate at RUSI specialising in the European Union. He previously served as an Assistant Editor in RUSI's Publications Department.
Kevin Byrne graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 2004 with a BA (Hons) in European Studies, including a year abroad at Sciences Po, Paris. He completed an MSc with a specialisation in Conflict Studies at the London School of Economics.
His MSc dissertation evaluated the importance of the role external actors played in the power-sharing agreements in Northern Ireland and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Other research interests include European Common Foreign and Security Policy, institutional design for conflicted societies, and security developments in Asia.
He has lived for several years in both France and Japan. He speaks French, Italian and some Japanese.

The Irish rejection of the Lisbon Treaty broke Europe and now pressure is mounting on the Irish Taoiseach to fix it. The current economic and political climate in the country conspire to make next year's second Lisbon referendum a difficult task for the Irish government.
