As Studies Co-ordinator, John is responsible for co-ordinating the regional programmes in the Department of International Security Studies as well as overseeing the Duke of Westminster Award for Military Literature, given annually by RUSI.
John also conducts research for the Transatlantic and Asian Security Programmes, and is a regular contributor to the RUSI Newsbrief. His research interests at RUSI include the US-Japan Alliance, the rise of China, North Korea and proliferation issues, as well as US-UK relations, Afghanistan and whole-of-government approaches undertaken in conflict zones.
John holds an MA in International Peace and Security from King’s College, London and a BA (Hons) in Philosophy and the History of Ideas from Cardiff University. Prior to graduate work at King’s, John lived in Japan for six years. He speaks Japanese.
