Christopher Pang is Head of the Middle East and North Africa Programme at the Royal United Services Institute. He holds an Honors BA in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Western Ontario, and received an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science as a Chevening Scholar in 2005.
Prior to joining RUSI, Christopher worked as a Consultant in the Counter-Terrorism Unit, Defence Investment Division at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. Previously, he worked as a Customs Officer for the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). In recent years, Christopher has served as a Middle East Analyst providing contributions for the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London, and for the Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence (CSTPV) while as a Bobby Jones Scholar at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland.
As Head of the Middle East and North Africa Programme, Christopher is responsible for leading research projects, hosting private discussion meetings and arranging public conferences on all defence and security matters pertaining to the region. His main research interests include: transnational terrorism, counter-terrorism/insurgency strategy, the Iranian nuclear issue, the Iraq War, the Arab-Israeli conflict, Gulf security, and NATO defence policy, partnerships and operations. He is a native of Niagara Falls, Canada.
